The nearest airport to San Miguel is at León. Called Bajío airport (code BJX), it is served by Aeroméxico, Mexicana, Continental and American.

Bus Service
The Central de Autobuses is on Canal, one km from the center. Frequent daily departures to Celaya, Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, León, Mexico City and Querétaro make San Miguel an easy place to stay while visiting other places in the Mexico's colonial heartland. For trips farther afield, Querétaro is easily reached from San Miguel by bus or taxi and has a major bus station with frequent first class service.

Location
San Miguel de Allende is located in the State of Guanajuato, in an area called the Bajio, surrounded by a ring of foothills which provide a backdrop for daily sunsets. The town sits at an altitude of 6,400 feet which keeps the climate temperate and agreeable throughout the year.

There are several International Airports within a few hours from San Miguel. Leon International Airport (BJX) is the closest and has transportation readily available through several major carriers including American, Continental, Aeromexico and Mexicana.

San Miguel is located at an altitude of 1,840 meters. Great weather is one of San Miguel's features. Nights and early mornings can require a sweater. Even during the rainy season, April-September, you are more likely to get late afternoon thundershowers than steady rain.
